Happy New Year, Rainbow families!
We hope that your holiday was full of love and all the joy that comes from seeing the season through your children’s eyes. It is so wonderful to be back together again. The children have been busy as ever, and have settled beautifully back into our classroom routine. Welcome to Axel and Arkyn, who have just moved up from the Sweet Pea class. The children have been so warm and welcoming, and have been eager to show them our classroom.
We wanted to extend a huge thank you to all of you for your incredibly generous cash gift. It was such a touching surprise, and added some extra magic to our breaks. Thank you all for your beautiful cards and gifts. We feel so loved!
This January, we will be spending some time talking about the brain, including it’s awesome functions, how the parts of our brains work together to help us be our very best selves, and ways that we can help our brains stay healthy. We will be spending time practicing some mindful ways to regulate our emotions and feel peaceful. This month, we will also be talking about the continent of Asia, magnetism, and hibernation. We will be learning about the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. in honor of his birthday.
Please note! It is a tradition of ours and many Montessori schools to observe Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, so the school will be closed on Monday, January 20th to honor his legacy.
Mr. Matt’s beautiful ice rink is almost done! Please check Bloomz for the volunteer sign-up and an announcement about our class’s skating days! The four-, five-, and six-year-olds will have the opportunity to skate on Wednesdays from 11:30 am to 12:10 pm. Three-year-olds may skate only if their parents are here with them.
It’s almost time for Parent Nights! These evenings are a special time for moms and dads to see what their children enjoy working on in the classroom. Your children will be able to show you their favorite lessons and share their classroom with you.
Mom’s Night is Tuesday, January 28th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, and Dad’s night is Wednesday, February 12th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. We hope to see you there! If at any point you would like to come observe a morning in our classroom between 9 and 11 am, we would love to have you. Please let one of us know if you are interested in joining us. It can be fun to see the classroom in action and have a peek into a typical day in the Rainbow Room.
