art in nature
We’ll focus on our love for the outdoors by painting, drawing, and exploring the MCM creek plant and animal life. Students will assemble natural sculptures, paint landscapes, draw from nature, and find inspiration from the wonderful grounds of our school.
June 29 - july 2
drawing on the right side of the brain
Does your child love to draw? Would they like to draw more or more skillfully? This hands-on camp will introduce students to techniques such as contour drawing, upside-down drawing, and drawing light and shadows. They will use a variety of media and learn how to view their work from different perspectives. This fun-filled, creative camp will build confidence in your child as an artist.
July 6 - 10
We will focus on fundamental survival needs such as shelter, water, food, and basic first aid. The students will investigate edible plants, create water filtration systems, and learn some backcountry first aid techniques. We will also simulate an incoming storm to test student-built shelters. Finally, the students will learn basic fire-building strategies and cook over an open flame.
July 13 - 17
This camp will give each child the opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, art, and math in a creative, fun, and hands-on learning environment. Each morning, the students will work cooperatively on a different task to design, create, and problem solve throughout their challenge. The students will use their imaginations and inspirations in a fun-filled atmosphere.
July 20 - 24
The students will spend the week learning and playing a variety of different sports including kickball and capture the flag. The focus will be on gaining ball skills, learning the rules of games, and improving sportsmanship. We will utilize the beautiful campus to spend our time outdoors while learning fundamentals, as well as improving upon individual skills.
July 27 - 31
It’s time to explore water! We will put on our wading boots and collect specimens from our creek to discover what lives in the water. We will look at these under the microscope and identify them. Simple experiments will demonstrate the unique and amazing properties of water.
