February was a busy month here in the Rainbow Classroom.
Thank you to all of the parents who came out for Dad’s Night. The children were so excited to share their classroom and favorite lessons with you all.
This year, we had a record number of parent volunteers for our skating days! Thank you all for your help. It was so wonderful to be able to take our whole group of skaters out each week. It is so much fun to watch them improve each time!
Our classroom has reached the point of normalization, and our peaceful work periods are a sight to behold. The children are eager to learn and proud of the progress they have made in learning letters and numbers, reading, using scissors, preparing hard boiled eggs or peeling cuties, making orange juice, sewing, doing multiplication, building maps… and so much more! In addition to the Montessori curriculum, we will be learning about rainbows, color, light, the solar system, space, and St. Patrick’s day in March. We are continuing to discuss ways in which we can be kind, peaceful, and loving towards each other and our classroom, including how to solve conflicts that arise through peaceful communication with the help of an older friend or teacher.
This month, we invite you to visit our classroom to observe your child and the class as a whole. You can choose a day to spend 45 minutes or so, beginning at 9:00 a.m., in one of our grown-up chairs watching the class in motion. It is a good chance to be a fly on the wall and gain insight into your child’s day at school. We will post a sign-up on Bloomz for you to let us know when you would like to come.
With the lovely warm temperatures setting in, our playground is starting to melt! ‘Tis the season for mud, so please continue to pack a light jacket and snow pants/rain pants for your child daily. Additionally, please check to make sure your child has some extra pants, underwear, and shirts in their cubby baskets should their clothes get wet.
Also, with all the sickness that comes with the change of the season and beyond, we are encouraging everyone to wash their hands as they arrive, before and after snack, and before and after lunch. If possible, please bring your child’s water bottle home to be washed at least once per week. Let’s beat these germs!
Just a reminder: school will be closed for Spring Break from March 16th to 20th, and will resume on Monday, March 25th.
