Summer Program

We are happy to announce the themes of our “Explore Outdoors” Summer Program 2014 and hope you will include Middle Creek Montessori in your plans for your child this summer.

Summer at Middle Creek Montessori is VERY fun and exciting!  It is possible to enroll around your family vacation plans and to allow your child to attend any or all of the nine-week program, running from June 9th to August 8th.

The Toddler Program will be held in the regular Toddler classroom and will follow the same schedule as during the school year, but with additional outdoor walks and water play at playground time.  This allows for the consistency and routine that Toddlers need to feel comfortable and to continue learning. Ms. Sara and Ms. Forrest will be teaching and enrollment will be limited to nine students per day.

The Primary Program will be held in the Sunshine classroom and will have four teachers. Each week will be a different theme, and all activities and projects will focus on that theme. The program will be taught by Miss Oliver, Mrs. Dailey, and Ms. Ashley, with the support of Ms. Paula and Ms. Lauren and other wonderful summer assistants.  The Primary children will be doing Montessori lessons in the morning, as well as theme-related projects, gardening and walks to see our animals.  In the afternoon, the children will eat lunch outside, then get on bathing suits and sunscreen to be able to enjoy wading pools, sprinklers and hoses in the sandbox.  Students may attend 3, 4, or 5 days a week in the Primary program. Half-day schedules are available, but we highly recommend a full-day, since the water play happens in the afternoon and the children usually do not want to leave at that time. It is a wet and wonderful summer in the Primary program!

The Elementary Program will be held in the Elementary classroom log home.  It is open to students entering 1st through 6th Grades.  We are delighted to have a strong team of teachers: Ms. Jessica will be teaching the first three weeks, and we are welcoming back Jim Leinbach, a Geologist and Montessori trained teacher from Arizona who is also very knowledgeable about the outdoors, the next four weeks.  Ms. Ashley, who has a background in Environment Education, will teach Survival Skills Week 8, and the summer will conclude with a new theme of Flight Adventures taught by Elizabeth Burnim, who has a background in aeronautics and engineering. Ms. Elizabeth Spartas, our assistant from the past two summers, will also be returning this year. The Elementary summer program is packed with educational enrichment through hands-on experiments and exploration.  The program is designed to be a full-time, 5-days a week program, so we can really delve into the week’s theme and offer a more in-depth opportunity for learning and exploration.  We know your child will have a blast!

Please see the registration form for each respective age group.  The main program is offered from 8:30 – 3:15, but school will open at 8:00 a.m. and After School care will be offered from 3:30 - 5:30 for all age groups.  Please be sure to register soon so your child will be able to attend your preferred weeks and schedule.  Space is limited.

Summer is one of our favorite times at Middle Creek Montessori. It is always packed with fun, and never long enough.. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions, or if we can be of help to you in any way.  We hope to see you and your child at Middle Creek Montessori this summer as together we explore the great outdoors!
