Summer Program

We are happy to announce the themes of our Explore Outdoors Summer 2012 Program!

Summer at Middle Creek Montessori is VERY fun and exciting.  The summer program is designed so that you may enroll around your family vacation plans and allow your child to attend any or all of the nine-week program which runs from June 11th to August 10th.

The Toddler Program will be held in the regular Toddler classroom and will follow the same schedule as during the school year, but with additional outdoor walks and water play at playground time.  This allows for the consistency and routine that Toddlers need to feel comfortable, and to continue learning.  Ms. Sara and Miss Hillary will be teaching and enrollment will be limited to nine students per day.  Many of this year’s students will be moving to the Primary program, and we hope to welcome some new students.  If you are not sure if your potty-trained Toddler-age child is ready for Primary or should remain in Toddlers for the summer, please ask Ms. Sara or me for our recommendation.

The Primary program will be held in the Sunshine classroom and will have four teachers.  If enrollment is high, we will spread into the Rainbow class, as needed.  Each week will be a different theme, and all activities and projects will focus on that theme. The program will be taught by Miss Oliver, Ms. Jessica and some wonderful summer assistants.  Mrs. Daily, our Montessori trained music teacher, will be also be teaching the first four weeks; Miss Kate will be helping with gardening throughout most of the summer, and Miss Rose Karlsen will be returning for her second summer with us.  The Primary children will be doing Montessori lessons in the morning, as well as theme-related art projects, gardening and walks to see our animals.  In the afternoon, the children will be eating lunch outside and getting on bathing suits and sunscreen to be able to enjoy wading pools, sprinklers and hoses in the sandbox.  Students may attend 3, 4, or 5 days a week in the Primary program.  It is a wet and wonderful time!

The Elementary program will be held in the Elementary classroom log home.  It is open to students entering 1st through 6th Grades.  We are delighted to welcome back Jim Leinbach, a Geologist and Montessori trained teacher from Arizona, as well as Jenna Fallaw, also Montessori trained and very knowledgeable about the outdoors.  Both of these talented teachers taught here the past two summers and their wealth of information, as well as their love for the outdoors, made the summer enriching and wonderful.  Miss Emily will be teaching a unit on the ecology of our creek during Week 7, and Miss Danielle will teach a new unit on Sun, Moon, and Stars during Week 8.  By popular request Mrs. Nowak will once again offer the Geometry unit during the last week, since it was a favorite last summer.  The Elementary summer program is packed with educational enrichment through hands-on experiments and exploration.  The program is designed to be full-time, 5-days a week program, so we can really delve into the theme and offer a more in-depth opportunity for learning and exploration.  We know your child will have a blast!
School will open at 8:00 a.m. and After School care will be offered until 5:30 for all age groups.

Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions about the summer program, or if we can be of help to you in any way.
