Krista Barnett has been teaching Montessori Upper Elementary and Music since 2004. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Indiana University School of Music in 1999. She attended training at the Montessori Education Center of the Rockies in Boulder, CO, and earned an American Montessori Society Elementary I and II Credential for Grades 1-6. In 2009, Krista joined the staff of Middle Creek Montessori and fell in love with the campus and the school community. In 2011, an essay written about Krista by one of her fifth grade students won the Barnes & Noble "My Favorite Teacher" Contest for the state of Montana. She has worked as the Upper Elementary Head Teacher and as a Support Teacher in both Upper and Lower Elementary for the past eight years. This year she will be filling the role of Elementary Coordinator, helping with assessments and special needs, overseeing curriculum, planning events, and supporting the classroom teachers in many important ways.

Krista enjoys singing in several local bands including The String Jumpers and Pinky and the Floyd, and she also teaches private lessons in voice, piano and guitar. Her hobbies include gardening, skiing, yoga, running, and playing Scrabble.

Lower Elementary 
Lower Elementary Head Teacher

Kristen Nowak
has worked at our school since it opened in the fall of 1998, first as a preschool teaching assistant. She completed the Montessori preschool training and received certification through the Pan American Montessori Society in 2002. Kristen then received her Elementary Montessori training and certification from the North American Montessori Training Center and completed a summer course through the North American Montessori Society. She has worked as a teacher in our Lower Elementary classroom since it opened fourteen years ago.

Kristen and her husband have a daughter, Jade, who attended Middle Creek Montessori. Jade currently attends MSU and volunteers a few days a week in the Lower Elementary classroom. Kristen and her family enjoy many family activities, including helping care for the Middle Creek Montessori farm animals.

Lower Elementary Teacher

Kelly Kohlberg  joined us in 2016 as the Lower Elementary Assistant Teacher. She moved to Bozeman after earning her Master’s degree in Elementary Education at Marymount University. While attending grad school, she spent two years teaching as an intern for grades 1-5 at The Potomac School in McLean, Virginia. Previously, she earned a B.A. in Studio Art at Catholic University, in Washington D.C., where she also played varsity volleyball. She enjoys sharing her passions, and spent time teaching extracurricular art classes and coaching high school volleyball. Kelly loves being active and spending time outdoors.

This year Kelly will also be teaching art to the Elementary students. She draws and paints, and her artwork is inspired by nature. She enjoys exploring all of the natural beauty the West has to offer.

Upper Elementary Head Teacher

Jessica Rabinsky joined the Middle Creek staff in the fall of 2011 and is excited to move up to the Elementary level. joined us in the Fall of 2014 for her first year in our Elementary School after spending 12 years in Montessori Primary environments for 3-6-year-old children. She completed the Montessori Upper Elementary Training with the North American Montessori Center and taught in the Upper Elementary class for three years prior to taking a year abroad in Thailand this past year.

 Jessica graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Education in 2000. She is certified at the Kindergarten through 8th Grade level. Jessica found the Montessori method and took the Montessori Early Childhood training from the Caspari Montessori Institute in 2002. She joined the Middle Creek staff in the fall of 2011 and is excited to move up to the Elementary level.

Jessica has two children adopted from Thailand.  Jessica and her family love to camp together, garden, and most everything that takes place outdoors.

Upper Elementary Teacher

Mikal Begnoche  has eleven years of experience teaching Montessori at the primary level, nine of which have been at MCM. She is currently working towards her Lower Elementary Montessori Teaching Certificate, which will be completed in June 2018. Mikal earned her Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education from Montana State University in 2002 and holds a K-8 Montana Teaching License. She in an avid outdoors woman and is passionate about teaching zoology, botany, and reading. During her free time, Mikal enjoys spending time with her husband, Armand, daughter, Violet (6), and son, Hans (2). She also enjoys reading, playing in the woods, and tinkering with her ukulele.
